Doujima 2019

✌I'm back for a small and short update on Doujima

I haven't been uploading much due to work, hard work has been done so today is a day of rest for me.

This year I went with others to Doujima but I enjoyed myself nonetheless.

Might have overspent in total but just for myself I actually spent less than $20 this time around.

Stuck with the decision to get stickers, since to me they count as print/artwork at a cheaper price.

Actually spent about 3 hours in the venue but it was a good haul.

saw this cute crochet Mira-kun charms
so freaking cute, every year I go the artists are improving so much I really admire the works produced

kamen rider stickers / Battle Spirits cards from La Tendo

I started to get into the Kamen Rider fandom about 1 month back, and am deep in the pit.

So happy to have found some merch for it!! Especially for the Heisei Generations!

(currently, I am still watching Kamen Rider 555)

Each series does have it's charm, but I just really enjoy the series because its such a throwback to watch early 2000s drama...

kinda been stuck in the 90s/early millennium mood at the moment.

Jojo and antman/wasp
I'm glad I focused on the series that I wanted badly.

shiny shiny~
rest of the goodies here for others
This year the most popular item that the artists have started making are enamel pins and handmade keychains, resin/crochet and others

Wooden pins/key chains were also very popular and new at the moment

I wonder what other new items will be made.

I drew back when it came to prints but there was a good amount of amazing stuff

Really wish I could get them but I need to work within the budget and the series that I follow

Overall I did have a good time!

Want the adrenaline to last as long as it can to get through the rest of the month...

Need to take care and rest well, the weather has been quite humid and the eczema is getting irritated

Have to be careful...

13 June 2018

been awhile

back again to do a short update on stuff that's happened

been busy at work again since June started and the holidays have begun.

started to get back into watching Japanese dramas  last week after an finishing Ossan's Love in 2 days

that's the thing i like about Japanese dramas is that they are relatively short and have less episodes.

if the series is well received, there will either be a second season or a special.

just a few photos here...

😊 food makes me smile

char kway teow from amoy street hawker centre

been awhile since i went back there, the lor mee there has changed hands.

i felt that it wasn't as good compared previously.

spaghetti mentaiko salmon and carbonara truffle with chicken spaghetti
onion rings and cheese fries

this was really good!

the portion was so big and value for money

it was from Fish and Chick at Basement 1 of Orchard Cineleisure in the food court area.

bonus: it is halal certified~

was expecting it to be more fast paced, but it was slightly slower

i do like the locations used in the film but it was too draggy...

the ending song was Where are you now

which did fit the show's ending...

i'm quite enjoying the chorus of Bloom

surprisingly, his songs are pretty good as should most pop songs be catchy!

some souvenirs from Sydney

greatly appreciated!~

the plush arrived~

the only 2 yankees i like in anime is him, Kuwabara Kazuma and Nijimura Okuyasu from JOJO pt.4

alright, will be back to update again next week.

will hopefully have more food pictures!

Doujima 2018

been a long day, long awaited day as well.

shall go ahead and sum it up here in this post.

hopefully, the next update won't be too far away.

this week was really full of up and downs

i started to develop flu mid-week and still there was the movie at night.

nearly K.O. and wanted to go doctors.

still not sure how i managed to get myself out of the house today and squeeze in the crowd at Suntec.

decided to meet at 12 noon...

did not expect that there was such a queue for the entrance because of the crowd control.

decided to get lunch instead first hoping that the queue will move.

i was wrong on that part. but at least there was a change in plans and the queue was moving quicker as compared to an hour before.

waited almost 25 mins in line, there was also a moment when the entrance was closed as there was too many people inside.

total time spent there was 2.5 hours

total damage: $42

still not over the budget i had but still it seems quite few items.

things are getting more expensive to manufacture i guess.

the standee of dio is cute!

but really couldn't bear to spend so much

love this booth! the JOJO stuff was so good!

luckily it's at the side so it wasn't such a squeeze.

really bought the print on impulse, really wanted the sticker of polnareff

i forgot he was in part 5.

-__- should probably read it again!!~

but the artist prints were all so damn nice!

more stickers i got

look at the miira set! everything about is just perfect.

chanced upon the love live sticker while waiting, which was really great!

the frog from Tabi no Kaeru is so cute too pass on.

got the lanyard for a colleague.

couldn't think of which Devilman Crybaby to get so decided on this instead.

All Might and Ten Count charms

the All Might was really pricey but still cute.

surprised i restrained from getting badges...

very almost wanted to get something from Secret Garden's booth.

thought i would get a few more Suga keychains, but too much to handle.

the crowd was really just making it hard to look at all the booths properly.

well, i still am glad i managed to keep a straight mind to make purchases.

i'm very glad i have people around to psycho me to spend mindfully.

✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶 ✨✧🎶

finally, the MV for 808 is out!

groovy beat as usual.

love the chorus melody, the video directing was nice too.

the song is catchy. quite like the vocals as well.

if this counts as anime song, yeah... i listen songs like this sometimes too.
but not in relation to a show, if i just listen to the song since it's good.

realised i haven't been surfing for new songs in quite awhile.

EOY 2017

I'm here for a recap on the outings that happened and EOY that I attended yesterday.

Tried the Hong Kong Wonton noodles at Ion.

Prawn dumpling noodle
the soup was really good! the stock was prawn i think.

really delicious

looks like he took a dump and ran away without cleaning up
trying to amuse myself, that was actually chilli

Mentaiko spaghetti and Durian pizza from Saizeriya

it was really good. thought the pizza would turn out weird, but actually quite nice!

Tonkotsu ramen from Maccha House at Somerset 313

DIO should wear this

saw this at a shop and took a picture

now i have more decorations on the ceiling of the Sugawara shrine
it is starting to look really crazy

❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿❀✿

recap on EOY

i reached Marina Barrage at about 2pm.
Spent quite a short time there, left the place at about 4+pm

the highlight of the day was to watch kite flying

the most amazing was the trio teddy/tiger/panda

also happened to see 2 kites going down into the water.

the weather was really erratic

panorama picture of the whole area

really challenging to take panorama

abandoned my bag to take photos
the fishes were really nice to watch them floating

the items i got

back of BTS keychain
i bought for a colleague, hope she likes it. it's Jimin, but not sure if it looks like him 😩

sugawara birb form
other side is Sugawara normal
my first purchase actually 😃

Sugawara and Mapo tofu

i realised i have bought from creepyllama previously too.
her art is really cute too!

like whenever they have the birb form

ready for christmas!
i also have bought a badge from the same artist as the keychain, also a Daisuga pairing.

the pokemon stickers are bought because it was Scraggy and Nyabby! 😊

still glad i managed to find some Sugawara stuff because it is not the current airing anime.

there was alot of Yuri on Ice and Overwatch...

so this ends the year for anime related events.

shall be waiting for next year's Doujima 😏

recap on C3 AFA SG

Here again with a post on how AFA was for me this year.

Really happy that I had set a goal and had enough time to psych myself to work towards it.

The keyword I was focusing on was contentment, I was trying to be less materialistic which is a prevalent trait in an O blood type I have learnt recently as well.

Shall proceed on with the going ons for that day, I went on the first day last Friday.

Reached the venue at about 11.30ish and there was plenty of people as usual.

Headed towards the Creator's Hub first to check out the fan art stuff, with a budget of 80$ which includes entrance fee (13$ this year) and food (i put aside 20$) there is honestly not much left.

Looking back on how I spent in previous years, it was alot of mindless and impulse purchases.

A whole lot.

I really learnt alot with all the clearing that I did in my display cabinet and drawers.

I need to have an even more mature mindset, to indulge in such hobbies.

Focus on a certain character and narrow the types of merchandise to collect (e.g. badges, keychains, posters, etc)

I find myself always buying alot of posters and badges in the past years and have realised that to maintain the condition of them is really difficult to an extent too.

There were a couple of badges that were starting to rust which breaks my heart, but i had no choice to discard them. I need to figure out a way to keep them in pristine condition.

Quite a number of artists have quoted pretty prices on their merchandise. $8 was the highest I paid for a keychain, while the cheapest was $4

I was amazed I had refrained from getting stickers because it was really honestly just the easiest way to throw the money away, with most of them going for $2 a piece with the average size 7 x 5 cm

There was a lot of hard thinking to do on the spot that day.

Really had a hard time, every corner of the artist alley was just temptation.

postcards of scenery from Your Name movie, Suga Bunny, DaiSuga keychains, Allmight badge
The rest are for other people

For the total damage it was $46, 22$ were stuff for myself.

This is on average how much it costs at the artist alley.

Imagine the official/licence goods booths around the rest of the hall?

Money literally passing from one hand to another on all 3 days of the event.

Around the artist alley, if there was an emoticon to describe the most popular series it would be this ❄

Almost every other booth was doing some sort of merchandise for Yuri On Ice, which is not a surprise at all. But honestly after awhile it got too repetitive for me.

Just a thought, because YoI has opened up alot of minds in a sense to the other communities.
It's interesting to see it being so well received, because I thought that being in an Asian community there would be higher levels of conservatism. Maybe though the exception was that the event saw more people of the younger age group below 40s I guess?

Also alot of artist stuff are basically fanservice to cater to audiences fantasies (fetishes too?!)
I think alot of younger ones need to realise it, this might see temptation to buy alot of stuff on impulse.

I'm a mindset convert now.. Mimalist and Mindfulness convert.. At least I try to convince myself

The art was really good though, lots of people I saw were buying posters and keychains like no tomorrow.

Quite a few artists were doing Jojo merch, but my budget and mind restrained from getting any.
My best bet was to stick to Haikyuu.

Outside the Muse booth, Jojo part 4 Diamond is Unbreakable
😊
they brought in the Jojo Kuji as well.
So shocked! 😲

Really wanted to try it but I had previously watched people open them on yt so I decided that better to save some money instead of trying and if I got a low price I would be pretty upset.

So much inner conflict..
Mimikyu display 😄

Also happened to chance upon FLOW at the Amuse Inc booth. They were having a handshake session with fans who probably bought the VVIP tickets for Anisong.

Strangely I was more concerned on taking a photo of NICO Touches the Walls shirt then of them

Honestly though, You Can Do Better than this
The design is just way too... idk... who would even get it? Like i'm not sure if other people have complaints like me, I'm so happy to see it upclose, but not going to spend that amount on a shirt that blacks out the name partially.

I don't get the designer idea of it, really.

And I had another thought, I was thinking about how band concert tees have the list of countries that they tour but couldn't they have like the set list or slogan on the back instead.

Because, of course they would cover most of the major cities in the world and (i wouldn't care less about the dates) but like... other than that I really don't see the point in it.

Like if they were that famous of course it is a no brainer they would tour those countries right??

Well, I just have a slight gripe over such a weird small issue, which i guess marketing people don't care about.

So much thoughts...

Dio hat

It was really pricey, 35$

Japari Park Penguins
Kemono Friends is a cute series though, the penguin just makes me sad when I think of the actual penguin in the Ueno zoo. 😭

some really cute official mascot figures in food related poses

look who's hiding in the cup

Black Butler is back with a movie i think
there was a soft serve stand for Black Butler as well.
I got my ice cream fix but not from there,

rich in calcium, milk that is.

took this to show a colleague

One Piece is still going strong after so long.

😁

Overall, I would say that it's a good thing to have a change of mindset and a budget for such an event.

Change of mindset i hope is to grow and learn to mature because the world is not as i think it seems to be always.

Naivety is for young minds, skepticism would take it's place for the older minds.

Something I heard.

Will update in a separate post on other happenings soon.

Looks like I might be watching a couple more movies this year end as well!

Gamestart Asia 2017

i'm back with a small post on the all by myself outing this afternoon.

well, i do know that i am very indecisive at certain points in time, however today was the first time i spent quite a solid hour in the hall before leaving the event for good.

usually i think i spend about an hour and a half or more but perhaps it's a gaming convention and not what i was actually there for so i could cut short the time spent?

and maybe also i have to prepare for a dinner event this evening as i'm writing this post.

so, initially i planned to reach there by 11am, which i did however after purchasing the ticket i realised that there was a separate queue that began near the empty parking lot downstairs.

i started queuing at about 11.35am and boy the queue was really pretty long.

i don't ever remember the queue being this long last year, or perhaps i went later so there was no need for such crowd control.

the time that i actually stepped into the hall was 12.35pm, about an hour later than i anticipated.

perhaps my greatest peeve about going, (i went on my own accord, lol) the lighting in the hall is really dim to accommodate the gaming sections.

but isn't it just bad for the eyes?

maybe everyone else there are just cats, they have night vision.

so, i really made a conscious effort to not purchase more than 50$ worth and also to include some badges for some friends.

after i came back and did some calculations, i am actually really proud that i did not break the budget and also got things for people!!! 😄

❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀ ❀

corgi badges, ten count keychain and cat badge

surprisingly, the only thing for me is actually the keychain.

really wanted to not buy so many badges or keychains, and i ended up buying more stickers.

killer queen sticker set from the same booth that i bought the corgi badges from

found this booth that did really nice art. bought the DaiSuga because it was 2 for $5
and chose the laputa print

i was quite surprised to still see a lot of haikyuu merchandise, though slowly i think at AFA there will be lesser, i do hope the series will continue to do well.

haikyuu stickers

i do feel like many artists don't add in the other year 2 in, ennoshita and the other 2 boys.
maybe because they don't appear in the matches most of the time.

but they are still part of the team. 😐

love live muse stickers
quite glad to see some muse love live characters because Aquors is currently the main now.

more JOJO stickers

although it's part 4 it's ok, still J♡J☮!

and that is the haul that i have today!

after that i went to have my lunch!

Ajitama Chicken ramen
yummy yummy! 😊

also, made it back in time to do this post! at least i know this is done and i'm at peace.

still have more to come in the weeks left for this month!

going to catch Ajin next week as well!

heard it was great!~
