Mooncake festival a.k.a Mid-Autumn Festival is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese.
traditional moon cakes are often circular in shape, and come in flavours like lotus paste with nuts or yolks in them.
often seen during this period, many hotels will be selling their own "high-class" version of the snack.
but i have found more eye-catching mooncake designs than the usual pattern.
^^
the mooncakes i'm about to show were bought from a small bakery at Hg Green.
the designs are intended to attract the little ones. :)
the filling is simple: lotus paste with bits of almonds
the skin is a little thicker than the usual mooncake, but who cares about the quality?
the main attraction is the design!
Hello Kitty moon cake |
Doraemon |
the Hello Kitty and Doraemon moon cakes were the most popular...
there was little stock left.
Crab |
Koala bear |
the other two, crab and koala had alot of stock left.
they are quite cute too! :D
the best thing about these moon cakes are that they are so affordable!
each cost 60cents!
whee~!
one of the most popular place to get moon cakes would obviously be Chinatown.
at this time, many stores would be having saleand they are definitely fresher than those sold by the hotels.
Takashimaya Atrium should have a Mooncake sale at this time, it's the norm.
huge crowds of people will be there sampling the moon-cakes.
ok, then i'm off again.
will be back soon!
