The very first time i actually felt that there is no diiference between the both sexes
was in secondary school.
I remember I was watching Inuyasha and was trying to get my friends to watch it.
and I remembered a male relief teacher who was also into anime and watched
Inuyasha as well.
My first thought was like, "wow! Even teachers watch anime. And a guy too!"
Because at that point in time, I had absolutely 0 male acquantances
(don't count relatives) and I wasn't into Japan or anything related to it then.
So it was quite surprising...
But as I went out to poly and I meet people and also for stgcc and AFA, there was
alot of eye-opening moments.
I got to see "otakus" in that sense. though i always thought it was more prevalent
in Japan as i thought most guys are geeks or gaming kinds.
But then went I go to AFA and I really see otakus who like really have dolls and
vanguard card and all those things.
It makes think that there is really no difference bwtween the both sexes.
It's just that we were made with different body parts and genes.
In terms of likes and dislikes, you really can't separate it into the 2 main categories.
Which reminds me of the group I saw at Kinokuniya last weekend. There was the
manga festival held at the (orchard) Kino and there were autograph sessions by
famous mangakas and Danny Choo was there as well.
I was there at about 4 and saw the creator of Keroro Gunso.
He is really young looking. And there were many Japanese there too.
After that segment was the Hatsune Miku creator and Danny Choo.
At the queue was a group of friends and it was very mixed.
It's common in SG to see all the races together but its quite rare to me to see all
races who come together to share their interest.
Especially indians and malays interested in Japan.
I do notice that the malay community in Indonesia they like J-rock more and from
last year's eye-opener at OOR gig here, there was a number of overseas fans too.
I don't see much Indians but i guess the numbers will grow slowly.
Perhaps they are more of the "Japan-ized" folks in their community.
Like how I would say I'm more "ang-mo-nized" because I don't really use
my mother tongue that often.
So there is really no difference with both sexes.
And there was also a surprise announcement.
