STGCC 2016

here's my review of how it went after a 3 year hiatus.

i can say that many changes have happened in the past years and so do tastes and interest so honestly it was quite a eye opener again when i entered the convention hall this afternoon.

i reached at about 11.30 am just before the lunch time crowd started flowing in. had prepared a budget and carried an extra mini bag which came in really handy.

i'm so glad i managed to keep to the budget (maybe because it's the last day so some artists gave discounts?) and not overspend. mentioned before that i wanted to slow down on the big sized prints and some key chains and badges because i won't use them sometimes.

managed to help a friend to get some shirts.

the popular theme this year is Overwatch and Pokemon. They were holding a Overwatch competition sponsored by Mountain Dew at a corner of the hall as well. Pokemon is due to the rabid disease of a game called Pokemon Go.

But i expect next year to go crazy with Harry Potter because of Harry Potter Go?

Managed to quench my thirst with free Mountain Dew too. Yeah!

I didn't expect the space allocation to be confined for the artists alley. There is so much walking space in between, very different from AFA.

But perhaps it's due to Comex and Food Fair happening at the same period so the crowd is spread out (and also the admission fee)

Star Wars still going strong because of Rogue One at the end of the year. DC is also doing well because of Suicide Squad.

Was really tempted to get a lot of nonsense but had to really control.

Thanks to recommendations from a colleague, I got into Steven Universe and Voltron. Managed to get a few postcards.

Shall wait till AFA because i think there would be more fan merch that i will support.

Overwatch Hanzo and Genji print, Yamaguchi (Haikyuu) badge & zootopia print

i have very strange taste in game characters. i like Hanzo because he's an archer. I also like Zenyatta.

i actually was contemplating between Sugawara but ended up with Yamaguchi because it features Tsukki and the macarons in the background which is cute. Zootopia because i just wanted to. I think it will be second fave animated film.


and that is all i bought from this round.

will be preparing for more damage in November!
