this year it was quite a happening year at the artist alley.
this year there was no tickets but the wristlets issued has unique barcodes idividually.
they had to scan them per person upon entering or leaving the halls.
pretty high tech if i may say so.

This year had some slight changes to the opening time, if i remembered last year they opened at 10am but this year it was at 9,30am.
By the time we stepped into the halls, it was about 11am. There was already a buzz in the whole area.
I didn't take the AFA brochure this year, because i realise i don't actually refer to them. 😅
This year we started off by going around the artist alley first since the official merchandise booths were packed and there were long queues outside.

It was cutely designed but the official merchandise is really expensive.
They featured Touken Ranbu and Bungou Stray Dogs merchandise as well.
On the whole most of the merchandise I bought were mostly Haikyuu related.
it's quite awhile since it has started, since 2014 but there is surprisingly still a demand for it maybe because the 3rd season is still ongoing.
i got alot of Sugawara related keychains and Jojo stickers.
I got had a number of prints too! shall put the pictures after the recap.
This year there was a dedicated section in the corner of the hall for food by WAttention
really good stuff there but you had to purchase coupons to use to buy the food
Nissin Cup Noodles were also one of the main sponsors.
after walking around and our wallets much lighter we had to sit at the side to rest at about 2.30pm.
My goal initially was to have a budget and not buy so many keychains.
It did not happen, such a fail. 😞
Had to go out to withdraw more cash before returning in to take a lunch break.

also bought the coupons and tried the strawberry ice dessert. it was shaved strawberry ice with condensed milk topping.
Really good. The next-door stall had soft serve in Matcha and Vanilla flavours. A worthy companion!

didn't take alot of free things this year. surprisingly they were giving out free stickers at the Mini Stage area. Waku Waku Japan along with Singtel and Starhub would like to present Pico-Taro stickers.
They had props (pens, apples, pineapples and leopard print scarves) for you to dress up like Pico-Taro and snap a picture and if you were picked in a lottery style you would win a chance to meet and greet him on Sunday.

there was a life sized standee of the man himself on the Mini Stage and you could take a photo with it or go down on Sunday to see him in person.

there was quite a number of people who buy such items. i enquired the price out of curiosity and it was 10$ for the Sanma while the fish with legs was 20$
almost tempted to buy the Sanma but didn't.

as i guessed from looking at the artist alley during STGCC this year i could tell that the top 3 Trending was Overwatch, Mystic Messenger and Yuri on Ice
The first 2 are games whilst the last is an anime but it really proved to be selling merchandise of any of the top 3.
By the time we walked around the artist alley for the 3rd of 4th time at about 5pm most of the booths were sold out of Mystic Messenger and Yuri on Ice stuff.

this seems to be the case with popular booths at the artist alley and when the passageway is being blocked by a huge crowd that seems to be stuck for minutes (but seems like hours to me)
so hard to walk pass and get through.
it so happens that i ended up getting the Suga charm with red ribbon and the Love Live poster from the booths next to the overly popular booth.
there was a moment too that i felt so dumb because even though i was standing in front of the poster i still didn't register that it mentioned lucky dip. 💦
so much for waiting and realising my mistake.
anyway, the Re:Zero charms that i wanted were not available yet but the artist told me if i was going for EOY it would be ready then!
i will get ready for EOY soon!! can't wait!
I hope that with some of the items sold out they will be replenished for Day 2 and 3
