National Gallery and ACM walk about

wanted to do a post of the recent outings to the museums i visited. 🎨

first exhibition i attended was the Yayoi Kusama exhibit at the National Gallery last Wednesday.

here are some photos

entry ticket with the stickers

there was quite a crowd as it is currently in the middle of June holiday.
but it was a enjoyable experience

pork cutlet rice set
the serving was so huge, but really good. pricing is really affordable too.
before the outing, i had lunch at Raku Raku Izakaya

haven't worn these shoes in a very long time

mirror room lights

we only had 30 seconds in the room. really hard to take good photos

iconic dots
really like the weather that day, it was good.

the background art work for the image used on the ticket/banner

flower tree
it does make it look surreal with all the dots

another shot of the hard working pair
gintama
really, it's literal translation is silver ball

before entering the room there was a sign that said "Please do not touch the balls"

the room was really large and had a high ceiling
the marbled pillars were very nice to look at.
after the exhibition we went to look at the pop up cafe and souvenir shop

paperweights
kusama insipred floor

paper folded globe
octogon shaped if i remembered correctly

really cool

novel idea
one of those mystery books that you can choose randomly so you don't judge the book by it's cover

installation at one of the play area at the Children Biennale

i think for such installations, videos do more justice since its using the lights and reflection

ramen
the soup was so good!

sanji ramen

night sky along the river

ended the night by going to Esplanade and catching a free performance and then eating yogurt from milk and honey co.

Last Sunday I went for the Joseon Korea exhibition at the Asian Civilisations Museum

it was raining a lot that day  but it was still a fun time at the exhibit

from across you can faintly make out the words Joseon Korea
entrance of the museum
the robes worn by the king
the queen's robes

there were scheduled guided tours around the hall with native speaking guides

竜が我が敵を喰らう!

this should be the look of the silly noodle dragons owned by the shimada brothers

after the Joseon Korea exhibit we went to check out the Ghost Nets of the Ocean
there were hanging installations made by fishing nets

turtles
baby turtle

i wanted to bring one home so bad

coming through... 🐙

the shadows cast by the installation is so pretty

and that is the end of this post on my museum tours the past week.

😏 hopefully i can do more of such every year to come.
